It is funny seeing negative reviews on this site for Apartment People. They made my move to Chicago a breeze and best of all, they did not cost me a dime more than I would have spent on my own. My agent was very professional and showed me 4 places before I decided to take one. If you are just looking around, then don't, wait until you are ready to rent because this company will show you the best places for your money. I came in just looking and ended up pulling the trigger same day, it is how the service is supposed to work. If you go in and see a place then leave and come back a few days later, chances are it will be gone and they made me realize this. Not only did they tell me this, but all I had to do was look around to see that I had a good amount of competition. I had a small wait in the packed lobby and before I knew it I was applying for an apartment. The way I see it is the best restaurants in the cuty usually have a wait, so why wouldn't the best agency?

Their lobby is packed because they are the best. Go to Apartment People and you WILL find your next home!

I have used many apartment finding services over the years and I keep coming back to Apartment People. This service really stands out

This is mine and my roomate's first big move to the city from our college and our parent's. We set up an appointment to meet with an agent last weekend. We went on other appointments before meeting with him that day and saw an apartment that we liked. He drove us around Wicker Park and showed us apartments that were not in the area we wanted to live and didn't have the criteria that we had mentioned. He then took us to the apartment we had seen before. We called him later that night and told him we were going to put in an application for that apt. He assured us that no one else had done so. The next day we fax over the apps. and gave his manager the payment. A day later through us calling and leaving un-returned voicemails, we finally get ahold of someone and found out that someone in fact DID put in app. for that apartment before us and got it. We still have not been refunded and no one returns our phone calls. They were unapologetic and have absolutely NO customer service ...

This was by far the worst use of 4 hours on a very time constrained apartment search. Apartment People came highly recommended. We called ahead of time, scheduled an appointment and were greeted by a fairly inattentive receptionist. Our meeting began with the manager who was very helpful but once he handed it off to an agent it was nothing but delays. We waited for the agent to figure out directions to apartments and try to make arrangements for us to see each one. We watched him make phone calls, repeatedly forget addresses, rewrite addresses on another piece of paper, shuffle around the papers etc. Just really disorganized. All in all he could only arrange 3. (This took 1 1/2 hours) Then for the next 2 1/2 hours we were held hostage in a two door vehicle while our directionally challenged agent was lost in the city. Making a series of cell phone calls while driving, he called the office numerous times and received multiple calls from the office wondering where he was with the keys. ...

I was looking for a studio apartment in the Lincoln Park, Lakeview area a couple months ago and decided to try Apartment People because I heard good things about the service. After waiting for 30 minutes, I finally met with the person who would show me the apartments. I specifically told him because of a prior knee injury, I couldn't handle many stairs and walk-up apartments were out of the question. Yet, all he showed me were walk up apartments. After seeing on beautiful apartment that was on the second floor of a walk up, I mentioned the stairs and he said "get over it, it's only one flight." After that, I was ready to leave and find a new apartment service.‎
