Carmel Resort Inn is a little hard to find but it is worth it. The staff is great, they are pet friendly, a breakfast basket delivered to your door in the morning and concerns considered immediately. They are running a Fall/Winter rate which was the topping on the cake.

You must check this out. Chris the manager, is reason enough to stay here. Great guy, friendly, lots of attention to detail. We found out about this place through the motel ads you see in those magazines at restaurants. Most units are stand alone. One I saw was actually 2 bedrooms and a living room. Anyway, each unit has a fireplace, and is nicely decorated. There is a Jacuzzi AND a dry sauna only a few feet from any of the rooms. Ample parking (some even have carports) A nice little continental breakfast in the morning.
