American Engine Installations picked up my 1995 Toyota 4runner on 30 January 2008 to install a re-manufactured engine. American Engine Installations originally promised this work would be completed in two weeks. When American Engine Installations picked up the vehicle I paid $800.00. I received the vehicle back on 30 May 2008 one third of a year later. In the first ten miles of driving a battery terminal came lose. In less than 100 miles the vehicle was spraying gasoline all over the engine because American Engine Installations failed to reinstall a clamp on a fuel line. The failure to reinstall this clamp along with the loose battery cables could have resulted in serious damage to the vehicle and its occupants. The engine oil was also below the add oil line on the dipstick. Once the engine has reached operating temperature the engine oil pressure is very low. If the oil pressure gage was faulty, the oil pressure would always be low. American Engine Installations claims to have installed a new oil pressure sending unit. The following is an incomplete list of parts that were not reinstalled on the vehicle or things that were not working correctly after the one third of a year American Engine Installations had my Toyota 4runner:
1 Battery hold down.
2 Part of the radiator shroud.
3 Wheel well splash guards.
4 Spark plug wire holders.
5 Distributor cap screw missing.
6 The check engine light is on.
7 The air conditioning that worked when American Engine Installations picked up the vehicle is now inoperative.
8 The engine oil was not refilled to the correct level on the dip stick
Pros : None
Cons : Don't expect AEI to call you once they have your vehicle
