Absolutely horrible. Worst experience in a long time.
The second-to-worst experience I've ever had with any business, ever. They erroneously gave my clothes to another patron, could not get them back, and refused to reimburse me in full!! This happened several months ago, and I still can't believe that the owner managed to get away with it.
Here's a little recap of what happened:
Scene 1: I drop by the shop shortly after Christmas to pick up an order I had left before the holidays.
Clerk: "Ooh, we have no record of this drop-off."
Me: "Here are the two claim checks you gave me when I dropped off the clothes. They clearly have your business name and address on them, as well as the number of articles of clothing I left."
Clerk: "Why do you have 2 claim slips? You're only supposed to have one... this one with the barcode is supposed to stay with the clothes to identify them."
Me: "Well, I suppose I have two claim slips because YOU GAVE THEM TO ME. Why didn't you keep the one that was supposed to stay with the clothes?"
Clerk: "Oops. Our bad. I don't know where your clothes are. Come back tomorrow... I'll look around."
Scene 2: I come back the next day
Me: "I was here yesterday... you were supposed to see if you could find my clothes."
Owner: "Oh yes. We looked. We can't find them. We may have accidentally given them to someone else. We need several weeks to see if the clothes are returned. Please come back in 4 weeks."
Me: "Fabulous! I love being without my clothes for weeks on end."
Scene 3: I return 8 weeks later.
Me: "I was here a couple of months ago... you lost my clothes, remember?"
Owner: "Oh yes, that's right. I did some research, and I figured out who we gave your clothes to. I called that person, and he/she won't bring your clothes back."
Me: "Are you freaking kidding me? What sort of pervert wants other people's clothes? Even if they ARE nice clothes?"
Owner: "Yes, haha. Well, my policy limits my liability to $30/item."
Me: "WTF?? I left a NORTH FACE SKI VEST HERE!! That alone was $100, at least!! And I had only worn it ONCE!!!"
Owner: "Yes, that's terrible. $30/item, take it or leave it."
Me: "That's outrageous! It's not my fault that you gave my clothes to someone else!!! Not only will I write the worst review on Yelp ever, I'm going to take you to small claims court."
Owner: "Sigh. Why do you have to be difficult? Fine. I'll give you $40/item."
Me: *Realizing futility* "Fine. Thanks for nothing."
THE END.
Consider yourselves warned, people.
Update 5/2/09: If you have a similar experience, please consider filing a complaint with the BB Bureau. I did, and although the owner totally ignored my complaint (no response), I feel like I did a service for others by filing the complaint.
