American Apparel clothes in general are really good mix-match outfits. That's why most of the stuff is so basic. There are a few outrageous creations here and there, but for the most part it's all about accessorizing. Yes, they may be a bit overpriced, so try the flee markets they have all around (they usually announce them on their twitter) where they start at $2.

I really like their clothing simply for the fact that they can go with most occasions when you know how to accessorize. The employees can help you out if you're a bit hesitant with anything, just ask. They also most likely will be modeling American Apparel so take a look and what they've put together :)

American Apparel pretty much sells one thing: cotton solids. Yes, there is a variety of colors and styles (long-sleeve shirts, tank dresses, polo dresses, miniskirts, underwear, PJs) - but it is still just solid-print cottons! BORING! Yes I know they have cool ads and don't use sweatshop labor, but this place is still overpriced. And they always have a few really weird items that totally don't belong, like gold lame unitards or silver thong bikinis. To top it off, the selection almost never changes, because how can you really change up a solid T-shirt? If you're looking for basics it's fine, but other than that, it's the dullest shopping experience ever.

american apparel has great cotton separates in every color imaginable. i have a ton of their shirts and skirts. i even bought my favorite bathing suit here. ok customer service, but the clothes make up for it.
