I have never been treated with such disrespect as I did in this
I have never been treated with such disrespect as I did in this facility. My two young boys are currently ill with the swine flu. I went to this Center to be seen as I was experiencing flu like symptoms as well. When they read my record they immediatly put a face mask on me and placed me in a room ahead of everyone else. The doctor who was on duty was very rude and rolled his eyes when I would answer his questions. His exame included looking in my ears and my mouth. He asked me the same questions that the triage nurse did and said he had to get me "registered" and then see what he could do for me. The registration secretary came in and said "can I have your insurance card ma'am?" ... when I replied I do not carry insurance, she immediatly said, ... "The Doctor does not feel this is an emergancy and will not treat you unless you pay 150.00 this evening." This as you can imagine made me a little upset. As soon as I took off my mask to talk to this lady she started backing away like I was going to infect her. But they didn't think it was an emergancy? My son has thrown up all over me with the swine and I have symptoms but it's not an emergancy? Not unless they get 150.00 then they would treat me like a human being? So I had a Lawyer friend of mine call up the hospital, and talk to one of the nurses, ... and she told him that even if I were to give them a 150.00 they still would not have tested me for the swine, that they do not do that for anyone unless they are sick enough to be admitted. I will never return to this facility, as a matter of fact, ... I don't care if I have to take this to the news, they will be exposed for their lack of moral standard, and medical ethics. I was made to feel like nothing more than a stray dog wandering in off the street by these people. I wonder if I had an insurance card, how many tests they would have run completely unrelated to my problem, just so they could get as much money as possible.
