Remember The Alamo
I like all the shoes they have - its pretty cheap and they have an incredible selection of stuff. I always shop here because its near my work but if it wasn't near my work I'd still find time to go here. They have everything a good shoe store should have - lots of selection, low prices and great staff. Worth the effort to go check it out.

best prices
i know why customers return to alamo: they have a splendid selection and the best prices. however, as a previous reviewer already mentioned, customer service is HORRIBLE. i have been on the recieving end of an episode too. also, way too many salesmen who circle customers like vultures. given the economy however, customer service aside, the prices get you coming back!!

Comfortable shoes
This store has every style of shoe imaginable. I have bought sandals, tennis shoes, dress shoes and the salesmen were always polite and knowledgeable. The only thing I don't like is their return policy. You only have ten days to get back to the store and if you live far away it can become a problem. I got stuck with a pair of Earth Shoes. What happened to 30 days? But, if you're looking for comfortable shoes this is the place.

An Example of the Worst Store in the World for Customer Service
First, the star ratings for this absolutely HORRIBLE shop are not nearly 5 stars. In fact, just look at the reviews they have received and the rating should be correctly shown as 3 stars. And honestly speaking, even that is excessive, because the customer service, the yelling at customers and the absolute arrogance of owners and workers alike regarding any issue that is short of purchasing an item is without compare. These people keep records on their computer of your shoe returns! Who does that? Their policy is 10 day returns, and one gets nothing but unparalled abuse if they do return a pair of shoes that don't fit properly. Unfortunately, they get away with their absolutely horrible treatment of the customer, because people keep going back. Why? Do they like being abused? Are they so enthralled with the "neighborhood shopping experience" that they will take any abuse? This place should rightfully be out of business and no one, no one should patronize these mean spirited owners and their equally mean spirited workers. Come on people, have some pride in yourself and tell these people where to go with their attitude by not going in their shop. On the other hand, if you get off being abused by store owners, go on in. And when you take your shoes back if they don't fit, please, whatever you do, apologize profusely on bended knee and maybe the ownership will decide not to insult you. Or maybe, just eat your expense and throw out the shoes that don't fit, because you really shouldn't request any customer service from this outfit. That would be asking too much.

Alamo Shoes
I just had the worst customer service experience ever.
I found a pair of $80 Tevas which I really liked, but they seemed a little pricey for the style, even after the 30% discount offer. So I went to a salesperson and asked if they could do a little better than a 30% discount. I consider negotiation a standard practice when shopping in a neighborhood store like this one, and I have done it a few times before, with positive experience.
Anyway, the salesperson nicely told me that he is not allowed to make those kinds of decisions but I should talk to the owner that he pointed out. So, I went on to the owner and asked the same thing. Next thing I know he is yelling (!) at me: "This is not a flee market! Did you see a sign that we negotiate??" So I tried to tell him that he didn't have to be so rude about it, to which he responded with more yelling - "You don't have to buy them, put them back and leave!" I was in shock.
Needless to say, I will never shop there again and will not recommend it to others. But if you do go there, please beware of the owner's temper and uncontrollable outbursts of unjustified anger.
