Good Sushi, Worth the Drive
We live across town and every few months decide to trek out to Aka for dinner. That drive just because much more worthwhile because Aka has recently revised their menu and changed their Happy Hour from 3pm to CLOSE! We ordered all our food off of the Happy Hour Menu and everything was fantastic. The fish (sushi and nigiri) is incredibly fresh and doesn't taste fishy (I'm pregnant and even ate a small piece!) The veggie tempura was crispy and had a nice variety. There is nothing worse than getting soggy tempura with no variety and then you are stuck eating the one veggie you can't stand. The steamed dumplings were also delicious. To top it off, we had the nicest waitress who understood we were having a casual date night; she didn't rush us, was very knowledgeable, and incredibly nice. I often tell people this is the best sushi in town and it's worth the drive outside the loop!

Could've had better
First time here. My friends had raved about it earlier. I had shrimp tempura, a seaweed salad and the caterpillar roll. The food was okay, but I think it could've been better. There was way too much sauce on the bottom of the caterpillar roll. My rice was soaked in it, so much to a point where the rice fell apart when I picked the rolls up. Also the shrimp tempura was flaky, instead of smooth and crisp. It reminded me of Church's Fried Chicken. Other than that, the service was bad. Our server forgot to give my friend her soup and salad until we reminded the server. My friend said it used to better, but she didn't know what happened this time. I don't think I'm ever coming back here again.

AKA Tanks
I ate lunch here today and had a Coke, Calamari Appetizer and Crunch roll. The coke tasted funny, and the Calamari was tough, bland and had absolutely no seasoning. The Crunch roll was O.K., but rather small and blah. After spending close to $18.00 dollars, I expect to leave a resturant satisfied. In stead, I had to pull over at the gas station for a candy bar.

My fave lunch spot now
It was couples years ago that I went to Aka when it just opened. Food and ambience was really good, but a bit overpriced. However, I went again recently for lunch and found their lunch menu has very nice food with reasonable price. Sushi are very fresh and porportion is just fine.

Love it!!!!
I love this place, My boyfriend introduced me to it (we went there on our first date) and since then we go back very regularly. It's hard to find a good sushi place, but this place is fabulous: the food, atmosphere and service. I have to agree with one of the other reviews, it's more of a Tuesday night hang out than Friday night. It's quiet, great for dates... their large booth provide great 'privacy' for conversation. While there Try the "Rock'n Roll' Yummm.
