Be ready to wait at least an hour in a crowded waiting room. Office equipment and medical tools are so old -like they are from another century. Witnessed some non-hygienic practices. If you have insurance go somewhere else.

I took my child thinking they were great well i was in a rude awakening with the expirince my child had to go through. My child was "sedated" not only with 1 but with 2 different types of sedation medicine. While in there the dentist said my child swallowed a bur (A dental bur is a type of drill bit used in a handpiece commonly called a dental drill). I don't know where that could have happened when the dentist was in there along with two other medical assistants and my child was sedated. So they called me in to tell me what had happened they said that I had to drive my child to the hospital! When she was under their care. AM not from Simi Valley so you could imagine how scared i was for my child and beause i didn't know where i was going or what was going to happen to my child. So we get to the first hospital they took us in came in a sworm of doctors nurses asking me all these questions all i wanted to do was break down and cry but i couldn't they did multiple xrays and many hours later they told us we had to be transfered to another hospital for children. We had to be hospitalzed for 3 days!! With out eating or drinking anything!! My child would cry asking us for food but we couldn't give ouyr child any it was so hard for us. It was a total nightmare. So while we were at the second hospital one of the socalled dentists called and said "If everything was okay" I was very upset I did not want to speak to her i said i didnt want to speak to her because it was their reponsibility to had taken care of my child and they didn't transport my child to the hospital in an ambulance like they needed to! she got upset and said "Well if I would of wanted to i would of just sent you home and not tell you to take your child to the hospital" I got more upset i didn't want to be rude and cuss her out so i hung up on her! It was traumatic my child till this day is terrified of dentists. We jsut mention dentist my child cried and says "Mommy no dentist please" all becuase of these idiots! And get this i called to get my money back and they were very very hesitant on giving it back to us. To top it off they were upset that we were NOT taking our child back to them. Who would after all we went through?????!! So please think twice before putting your child at risk with these monsters!

Recently I moved to Simi Valley and was in need for a childrens Dentist. Dr. Afshar's office was referred by
Medical. But I am writing about the staff in the office. I have a 2yr old, a 6yr old and a 8yr old and all needed fillings, caps, extractions and the oldest needed to be sedated. People have complained about
the waiting time. This office is putting our childrens lives in thier hands and then they complain that it takes so long! Give me a Break!!! There doing thier job and doing it GREAT!!!!! From the moment you walk in the front desk staff greets you with a smile and how are you? The office manager is a take charge welcoming, warm, strong woman who makes you feel important and that you children are cared for. The Dentists work is worth the wait! I'll see all of them for years to come GREAT JOB!

I have to say I agree with the other parent "I would NOT take my child to a doctor who's office is empty"!! Honestly, the wait is worth it. My 5 year old was actually referred to this dental office by another dental office. Once your child is in the back with the dentist, they do the work efficiently so you won't have to go back for the same procedure. I have to say that I've seen some parent's overreact about waiting 10 mins past there scheduled appointment... give me a break!! Isn't your child worth the wait?? I wish they treated adults, I would go there myself if I could :)

My austic son was recommended to this office by my general dentist of 10 years. We drove 2 hours for the appt. I had to fill out papwork and wait for insurance verification. After that was complete I saw the doctor 20 minutes later. My son did not complain of pain, but they informed me he had an infection and needed immediate extraction. I waited patiently while the front office contacted my ins. and got approval from my HMO. My son was treated. Three days later his appetitie improved, behavior and attention span were greatly improved. I am currently awaiting approval for the rest of his needed treatment. I thank this office for their help and assistance as I am not sure how HMO's work. But it was worth the drive. I look forward to returning for final treatment. The doctor was patient and took her time making my son laugh and relax prior to treatment. I apologize if other mom's/patient's had to wait due to my son's emergency situation. Thanks.
