It's nice when towing guys actually like their jobs
I have some resentment built up towards towing companies, through no one's fault but my own. When I see a towing truck I cringe like they're the cops and I have a pound of cut meth in the trunk. So Advantage Towing was a nice change of pace.
They came when I called AAA for a tow, but Victor, the guy behind the wheel, diagnosed that I just needed a jump. He was right (at least, temporarily). He also let me know that they would come out for $115 and change out a new battery for me if Id' like. I passed at the time being, but after getting to work and my battery failing once again (not to mention the distinct smell of sulfur protruding from it), made an appointment.
A couple guys were out about an hour later and met me in the parking lot. They were friendly, funny, and humored me relentlessly. The main guy - Phil, or X-ray, which is apparently what people call him - was training a new guy who was getting a hang of the ropes. They answered all my questions and let me clamp the generator's clamps onto the new battery. They printed up a receipt with the results of a starter test and an alternator test (to make sure the battery is actually the problem). The battery comes with a 6 year warranty.
Given, I probably could have spent some time and gotten away with replacing my battery for much less than $115, but with the added convenience of come-to-you service and a decent warranty, I think it's well worth the cash.
Well done, Advantage Towing! I will speak your praises until the inevitable day that you'll be towing off my car without my explicit permission. Because that's just my luck.
