If you like paying for stuff twice, this is the shop for you. While ABM Transmissions (La Puente, CA) appears to offer an attractive initial price, your “total” cost will be double or more than their estimate/quote. The reason for this is because the quality of work performed here is so bad, you’ll have to go somewhere else to fix whatever job ABS does for you. Not only is the work horrible, the customer service is equally bad. In dealing with the owner, not only would he NOT honor his stated warranty, but his attitude was/is very rude & disrespectful. With the way they struggle for business, you’d think ABM would offer greater professionalism. That is NOT the case.

After getting a transmission rebuild from this shop, I returned within the warranty period because the transmission started slipping again. When I returned to the shop, the owner refused to write up an estimate or invoice. Though this was not my preference, he stated that he would simply take car of the car. Without this paperwork, I could NOT document my return to the shop (for the warranty), leaving me with no legal recourse (because it would appear I never returned to give them a chance to remedy the problem). A day later he called, stating that there was nothing wrong with my vehicle. This was NOT true!

Also, ABM claimed to have replaced three of my four motor mounts. While one was certainly replaced (the one most visible, at the front of the transmission), the others were not. Even this one was of such poor quality (cracking rubber, etc.), that I’ve had to replace it since. (All mounts have been replaced since, but for the sake of argument, only 3 should be factored into my “extra” costs.) I’ve also had to replace the torque converter within the transmission (in hopes that it would solve the slipping issue), so also factor in that part & labor as well. Since the problem persists, I’m on my way to another tranny rebuild thanks to ABM Transmissions.

Don’t just walk away from this place. RUN!!! (Or drive very fast, if your car is operable.) You h
