Dog Friendly Budget Accomodations by Doug S. at InsiderPages
Seven Seas is a 1970's era motel that is the process of being updated. That being said, the place is in great shape, and has a promising future under the new ownership (after about Dec. 2005). If you've stayed in South Lake Tahoe, you know that on the California side, there are lots of motels in a neighborhood near the state line. This place is right in that neighborhood - a couple of doors down from State Line Road on Manzanita.
Ken and Carolyn are the new owners - and they are a blast! They are very warm and wecoming, and love what they are doing. They gave us a compimentary glass of wine on arrival, which really hit the spot.
The owners are truly dog friendly, and have a fairly small charge (dog fee) for bringing your pooch with you. We brought our two mutts with us, and they took an immediate like to them. They even watched the dogs for us while we went out for dinner, though this is not an advertised service!
Seven Seas is about 3 blocks walking distance from the Casinos and the Gondola lift for Heavenly. They have access to a private beach, and most importantly - they are off the main streets so its relatively quiet at night.
The rooms are clean, comfortable, and functional. The motel itself dates back to the early 70's so it's showing a little wear. This place is not the Hyatt or Harrahs. Its basic budget accomodations. That being said, they are the best value in their category.
PROS: Dog Friendly, Good Value Budget Accomodations, Friendly and fun owners
CONS: If you are expecting the Hyatt or the Hilton stay there instead.
